Proof, not promises.
Every GreeneWrap bag is independently lab-tested and certified compostable. Verified for home and industrial composting, and certified free of intentionally-added PFAS. No vague “biodegradable” marketing. Real standards, real testing.
The certifications
Each mark is an independent, third-party certification, not a self-declared claim.
BPI Certified
Certified commercially compostable to the U.S. ASTM D6400 standard. Independently lab-tested by a third party before certification is granted.
TÜV OK Compost HOME
Certified to break down in an ordinary backyard compost at ambient temperature, not only in a commercial facility. Most compostable bags can’t say that.
TÜV OK Compost INDUSTRIAL
Certified for industrial and municipal composting facilities running at 55 to 60 °C, meeting the same disintegration thresholds as ASTM D6400.
Seedling, EN 13432
Meets the European EN 13432 compostability standard, the benchmark behind the recognised Seedling compostable mark.
ABA Certified (Australia)
Certified to the Australian commercial (AS 4736) and home (AS 5810) composting standards by the Australasian Bioplastics Association.
Certified PFAS-Free
Verified free of intentionally-added PFAS through formulation analysis, ingredient safety data, a signed manufacturer statement, and fluorine screening.
What these actually mean
Plain language, because “compostable” gets misused all the time.
Home vs. industrial
- Home: breaks down in a backyard pile in roughly 180 days at ambient temperature.
- Industrial: 90% disintegration within 84 to 90 days in a commercial facility (55 to 60 °C).
- Certified for both. Use whichever your area supports.
Breaks down into
- CO₂, water, and organic matter. No toxic residue, no microplastics.
- Needs active composting to break down. It won’t decompose sitting in a drawer.
- Certified PFAS-free and fluorine-free.
Why we never say “biodegradable.” It has no regulated standard or timeframe. It is the word greenwashing hides behind, and it is restricted on product labels in California. We only say certified compostable, because we can prove it.
